Contrary Family- Round 2

 

Moving over to Desiderata Valley this week to visit the Contrary family of adults Edward & Opal and their son teenage son Rick.

Upon opening the lot you can see that Opal desires another baby. With her being 6 days til elder the chances may be slim.

She and Edward give it a whirl but no baby chimes are heard. *whew* :D

It means she and Edward can put their concentration into skilling for their combined LTW's to become the Hands of Poseidon.

Their son Rick is a Fortune Sim, unlike his Knowledge loving parents, who wishes eventually to be a Hall of Famer.

Slightly ahead in the Oceanography career is Opal who leaves this morning for her Whale Tracker job. Edward goes later as an Underwater Demolitionist.

Rick called college for another scholarship before leaving for private school.

Edward came home after a chance card gave him a mechanical skill and a promotion to Marine Biologist.

Opal got promoted too, to Deep Sea Fisherman and they were about to celebrate with Rick when he announced he'd called a cab and was off to college! Bye Rick!

Tuesday morning began with Opal leaving for work.

Edward  got promoted to Whale Tracker, left for another shift and returned as a Deep Sea Fisherman.

More skilling for this couple then Edward left for his 3rd shift of the day where he now caught up with Opal in that they are both Protector of Whales. There was no time for sleep so he went out to the energizer....

Suddenly he spun into Elderhood... sorry Edward I forgot your birthday!

He went inside and warmed up by the fire as Winter has kicked in.

The next morning before work Wanda Tinker and Makoto St Julien called in and Edward befriended them both.

Then both he and Opal arrived home having reached the top of their careers! LTW's achieved.

Edward couldn't wait to share the news with his newest best friend Tara Kat.

Now they've both earned 25K they can afford some upgrades and I can finally put an archway between the kitchen and dining room after a little renovation. 

The living room had some new wallpaper and comfy sofas.

Thursday afternoon saw their son Rick (in red) arrive from college with his dormie friends Pauline Aspir, Daniel Bell and Justus Landry.

It's Christmas! 

Opal made a lovely holiday roast.

The Jocque family were invited over too as they are the best friends of the Contrary's and a great time was had by all.

Santa arrived much later after the couple were in bed but woke up not only to his arrival but the tree setting on fire too! Thankfully both Edward & Opal extinguished the fire while Santa ho-ho-ho'd the whole time.

Friday was the first day of Spring and so Edward started off some fruit and vegetable plots.

He invited his friend John Mole over for a chat.

He and Opal visited a store so he could be less country bumpkin and more smart elder. :)

On Saturday I remembered to throw a party for Opal!

I guess the country bumpkin look is all the rage. :D

Sunday was a day off work where the couple did their usual round of skilling.

Opal worked on a portrait.

Edward caught up with his newest acquaintance Nery Turner.

Then later earned a Bronze Garden badge for his efforts.

Summary-

Not the most exciting couple but they had a decent week with good achievements. We're off to college next to see how Rick gets on in his Freshman Year.

Carlos Contender- Round 2

 

Here we are still in Belladonna Cove but this time at the Contender residence.

Carlos is still making best friends.

His wife is Cara- they married in Twikkii Island a while back when a holiday romance turned serious.

Cara was given the Voodoo doll and used it to befriend her latest colleague that she brought home from medical school.

With Cara's influence and Carlos' money the downstairs turned into less of a bachelor/sportsman look and more of a light and stylish living space.

Upstairs saw Carlos' old boxing ring disappear and the whole floor was turned into restful rooms. A Master and ensuite for Carlos and Cara and two separate rooms for their newborn twins (born at the end of last round) Carole and Santos, who you may see are resting in their cribs- as well as a second bathroom.

With her latest friend and skills earned Cara is now a G.P

On Tuesday Carlos had a decision to make...

He decided to 'smile pretty' and got himself some nice funds indeed. As Carlos is an elder (91 years old exactly) he has never rolled the wish to retire and for him I broke my 'retire at 70' rule as he was already older than that when the game started. ;)

That evening also saw the twins grow to toddlers.

and thus began a long night of little sleep and teaching skills.

The other thing of note that day was Cara's promotion to Specialist. 

Wednesday saw the first heavy snow of Winter.

The Christmas tree went up and a nice fire was lit.

Santa Claus arrived later much to the amazement of the toddlers who were very excited.

Carlos is a good Dad to the twins.

On Thursday Carlos and Cara grabbed a few minutes to themselves to enjoy a quiet dinner.

On Friday the toddlers made best friends and enjoyed learning new skills.

Cara was promoted to Surgeon and made another good friend using her voodoo doll.

Later Carlos gathered his niece Isabel and family, Ravi the postman and Chastity Gere for a party for his children. 

Yes! The toddler phase is over! :D

The twins' bedrooms were upgraded accordingly.

Even though they slept through most of it, their birthday party was a great success!

Using her new toy oven present Carole made herself a lovely breakfast muffin on Saturday.

Cara and Santos were working on their body skills outside enjoying the first day of Spring.

The family had a trip to the local store to find more suitable apparel, especially for Santos. They spent much of the day making new friends and came home, napped, skilled and went to bed late.

Sunday morning began with the chidren learning more skills while Carlos had a game of darts.

He and Cara enjoyed a dip in their pool and a game of Marco Polo until lunchtime.

The family took an afternoon trip to the local grocery store where the kids' met new people and the adults bought groceries.

The Headmaster paid a visit and young Santos assured him that he had no intention of ever falling foul of the law. 

A high score of 119/90 ensured the children were accepted into private school.

Cara ended her week gaining her 18th best friend. Of course her LTW is to reach the top of the Medical field and she's not too far away from that goal.

As for Carlos, this sprightly 95 year old still enjoys his evening jog!

Summary-

Carlos sure is living his best (long) life, I'm sure having Cara, the twins and his niece Isabel and family close by helps too. Hopefully he'll live long enough to see his twins' next birthdays and maybe even see them off to college.
