Sofia Baldwin- Freshman Year

 

We're still in Belladonna Cove but this time at its University of Sim State for the Freshman Year of Sofia Baldwin.

This is the original 8 room Plaza Dorms.

Except I have revamped it. Downstairs still has the entryway lounging/desk and now darts area and originalish kitchen but on the other side is one big room (save for a small bathroom) for reading/tv/chess and two computers plus stereo.

Upstairs are all 7 bedrooms. (Yes I had to lose one to fit in two separate shower rooms for boys/girls and still keep a small seating area as well as the outside access). But I'm good with that.

Moving in here are of course Sofia Baldwin, Justin Cleveland and a new sim Kerie Long (former paperkid who Sofia had her first date with). Sofia, the pleasure sim wishes to have 50 first dates but that is unlikely now.

I originally moved Sofia and Kerie into Justin's original dorm then decided I can't go another round seeing the same old dorms so I revamped a couple and built a new one. But it was here in the first dorm that Kerie and Sofia autonomously fell in love, they do have 3 bolts and so I think I will change Sofia's aspiration after Sophomore year, possibly Kerie too as she is a Romance sim but has a career LTW so we will see.

They shared their first kiss before I moved them into their new dorm. It's simply called Revamped Plaza Dorms. ;)

Justin made a best friend- he's a Popularity Sim who wishes to be a General one day. 

The new big living area is great for when lots of students come visiting.

Kerie has a love of Nature and so I set her to start her own little vegetable patch.

After which she joined Sofia for the dorm cooks' good mac 'n' cheese where they got to know a couple of fellow dormies.

Bright and early the next day Sofia chose her major (Literature- same as Kerie) and enjoyed a solo dance.

Justin picked History for his major and he and Sofia needed to earn a skill each before class. The new 'bubble blower' fits nicely into the living area too.

Being a former NPC Kerie already has really good skills so decided to catch some butterflies... she did release them afterwards!

Justin's friend the Llama mascot wanted a chat so Sofia took his place and it wasn't long before she was flying 'high'. :)

The first semester was soon over, these aren't all dormies- some of them were just visitors who'd left the lot for class.

Having combined funds the dormies could afford a few nice things and so bought bathroom cabinets that enabled them to wash their faces and clean their teeth.

Yes the boys bathroom had one too. ;)

Justin and Sofia are best friends, he does have an attraction to Sofia but she is really into her 3 bolt mate. Still, you can never have enough good friends.

Occasionally even the dorm cook has a bad day and burns the dinner.

Justin went off to tell Sofia & Kerie but they were in the middle of a pillow fight.

Sofia did step up a little later though and made some pork chops for dinner while Justin distracted the dorm cook by chatting to him.

Almost to the end of the year and the friends had only ventured out once to a college lot to buy phones and clothes so they went Downtown to The House of Blues where both Kerie & Sofia feared Karaoke- who knew? they must be shy.

Sofia had a nice talk with Nathan Gavigan whose family used to live in the apartment opposite her parents' before they recently moved.

Justin had done lots of scoping both at the college lot and here but has yet to find anyone more attractive than Kimberly Cordial who he shows 2 bolts for. 

Finally though it's the end of Freshman Year and all three Sims find their way onto the Dean's list.

Summary-

The dorm plays well and having all the bedrooms upstairs (mainly) stopped other visitors from going up there. Also there's not been any routing issues that I've found so far.

Next it'll be the Beaker family in Strangetown.

The Baldwin Family- Round 2

 

Here we are in Belladonna Cove for the first time this round and at the apartment of the Baldwin family. Dad Benjamin, his wife Isabel, teen Sofia and little Marcus.

The first thing I did was move them into a house! Their apartment was ok but it took so long for them to get downstairs and often they'd take their food outside as well so a new home it is!

I built the house from the intro movie to scale. I was so disappointed back when the game launched that it wasn't included! Of course I had to guess at how the front and inside may have looked.

It really seems a party house so it's a big open plan kitchen area, separate living room and downstairs shower room.

Upstairs are two bedrooms with en-suites. I will remove the double in the smaller room and add two singles for the kids' for now.

Most of the family immediately left for school and work but Family sim Isabel had the day off. She had previously moved one step closer to her dream of being Captain Hero and is currently a rank 7 Lieutenant.

Popularity sim Benjamin later got promoted thanks to a chance card to Top Secret Researcher in the Science field. He really wants to be in Journalism but has yet to find the career.

Benjamin went off for a second shift and Isabel greeted the welcome wagon of Lydia Rutherford and Theresa Weir, wives of Geoff and Connor respectively. Christopher Tang walked by too and was greeted.

Sofia and Marcus chill out on the swings after school.

Sofia went off to her teen job but Marcus joined his parents in a successful Headmaster visit.

After work Sofia took advantage of the massive pool to work on her body skill.

She's super fit now.

Tuesday saw the kids having some fun before school with their parents.

Benjamin had a decision to make....

He chose well and earned a big bonus!

Isabel invited Geoff and Lydia Rutherford over... Geoff obviously likes keeping fit as he broke out his skipping rope.

Isabel used her career reward to earn another cleaning skill.

Sofia, who is a Pleasure sim wishing to have 50 first dates (eek) reached the top of her teen career as she also wishes for college and scholarships.

On Wednesday Benjamin found the Journalism career and starts this morning.

He got his first promotion and was home in time for his Elder birthday!

He's already feeling the aches and pains!

It's a joint party as Marcus is now a teenager. He rolled Fortune and wishes to be a Business Tycoon one day.

Of course Marcus also wishes for college and lots of scholarships so took advantage of Autumn for some skilling. No abduction- yet.

Sofia brought a friend home from school, she's really interested in girls over boys and last time had a date with the paperkid if I recall. Simon stayed a while though until Sofia left for her teen job. Marcus too found himself a teen job.

Being in private school already started Marcus at the second level job and after just one shift at the hospital he'd reached the top.

Promotions too for Benjamin and Isabel as they all enjoy a family dinner.

Another chance card for Isabel on Thursday.

Yes, good guess. 

She may be a tough Police Chief but Isabel loves to play with the family Womrat.

Benjamin had a good day too and is a Fact Checker on Friday.

Unfortunately Marcus caught a cold at work but his Mother's homemade soup hit the spot.

On Saturday while Isabel was at work the rest of the family went to buy some new clothes.

Benjamin got rid of his summer shorts for a more seasonal appropriate outfit.

Back home and Isabel has done it! She achieved her lifetime wish of becoming Captain Hero.

Just in time for her Elder birthday!

She gave a cheeky wink as she transitioned.

It was nice for her to share her birthday with her Uncle Carlos.

It was all a bit much for Benjamin who fell asleep in the cake.

Sunday morning saw Sofia leave for college.

We'll catch up with her Freshman year next.

Benjamin bought Isabel a fancy car but this Superhero doesn't need wheels to go to and from work! She celebrated her first successful day as Captain Hero then her, Benjamin and Marcus carried on working on skills and friendships ready for their next week.

Summary-

Normally I grow sims up as soon as I get the notification but I held out for Benjamin and Isabel. Benjamin more so he could find his job, and he was lucky that he did. I may have to break my 'retire at 70' rule for him, we will see.

Sofia earned some good scholarships so I decided to start her college journey sooner. Marcus will have to wait until at least next round.
